Come in to Crown & Glory Barbershop! •

Take a seat. The room moves with laughter, debate, and the steady rhythm of clippers finding their line. Somewhere someone says, “Turn me to the mirror,” and everybody leans in just a little.

Here, We talk about life, health, politics, beauty, and whatever the headlines tried to steal from us this week. And somehow, between the fades and the flat irons, we leave lighter — reminded of who we are and how good it feels to be seen.

The crown & glory barbershop vibe

MR. AND MRS. ROBINSON GREET YOU LIKE YOU’VE BEEN EXPECTED — NOT QUESTIONED. THE CHAIR IS READY.

THE MIRROR IS HONEST. THE ROOM IS ALIVE.

AT CROWN & GLORY, EVERY CHAIR IS A SAFE CHAIR.

THIS IS A BELIEVE BLACK PEOPLE SPACE.

HERE, WE DON’T DEBATE YOUR EXPERIENCE — WE LISTEN TO IT.

WE DON’T MINIMIZE YOUR STORY — WE HOLD IT.

WE DON’T SHRINK YOUR BEAUTY — WE CROWN IT.

WE TALK ABOUT RACISM. WE TALK ABOUT HEALTH.

WE TALK ABOUT WHAT THE NEWS GOT WRONG AND WHAT OUR GRANDPARENTS GOT RIGHT.

WE TALK ABOUT HAIR AND HISTORY IN THE SAME BREATH.

THIS IS WHERE BOLDNESS IS WELCOME.

WHERE LAUGHTER IS LOUD.

WHERE YOUNG PEOPLE ARE SEEN.

WHERE ELDERS ARE HONORED.

WHERE YOUR BLACKNESS IS NOT UP FOR DISCUSSION — ONLY CELEBRATION.

CROWN & GLORY IS MORE THAN A SHOP.

IT IS A SAFE ROOM.

A WITNESS ROOM.

A BELIEVE BLACK PEOPLE ROOM.

AND YOU ARE SAFE HERE.

The Line-Up Debate

Two men lean in close, studying a fresh fade like art critics at a gallery.

“Too sharp,” one says.

“Just sharp enough,” the other replies.

Mr. Robinson steps back, folds his arms, and lets the mirror decide.

There’s something sacred about a room where beauty is taken seriously.

YAIT Crown & Glory barbershop Moments

The Newsroom

A headline gets mentioned.

Voices rise.

Hands gesture mid-air with combs and brushes still in them.

No one agrees on everything — but everyone agrees it matters.

This shop has always been a newsroom long before the news learned to care.

Under the Dryer

Three women sit beneath hooded dryers, voices rising and falling like a choir rehearsal.

Politics, health, somebody’s nephew, somebody’s ex — nothing is off limits.

Every few minutes someone says, “Now wait a minute…” and the whole row leans in.

Where else can you be this honest and still be this held?

The First Haircut

A little boy sits stiff in the chair, eyes wide, gripping the armrests like he’s boarding a spaceship.

Everyone pretends not to notice his fear.

By the end, he hops down, checks himself in the mirror twice, and struts past the waiting bench like royalty.

Confidence sometimes begins with a clean line and a cheering section.

The Big Chop

Someone says quietly, “Go ahead. Cut it.”

There’s a pause.

Not heavy — just respectful.

When the first lock falls, the room exhales together.

Transformation doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.

The Mirror Check

Mrs. Robinson turns the chair slowly and holds up the mirror.

No rush.

No pressure.

Just a quiet, “Look at yourself.”

And for a second, you do.

Being seen clearly can steady your whole week.

You ain’t imagining this.

Crown & glory’s purpose

  • Gathering place for generational debate and laughter.

  • to be a safe place where Young ones are encouraged, elders are honored, and everyone in between is valued.

  • to provide a space where boldness is affirmed, opinions are welcomed, and no one has to shrink to fit the mirror.

💈 Crown & Glory Playlist

This is the pulse of the shop’s daily energy: bold, honest, and unfiltered.

These are YAIT podcast episodes that belong in the chair —

perfect for the cut, the twist, the braid, the moment when the cape snaps and the mirror turns.

These conversations live in the shop —

the place where we tell the truth out loud about racism, beauty, health, politics, survival, and what it means to walk through predominantly white spaces as Black people without shrinking.
